Effie is an artist. When I first met her she was an art therapist with a studio in Abbotsford Convent. Earlier this year she asked me to participate in the Travelling Art Project which she has organised. She has graciously reciprocated by participating in my 30 Days of Beautiful project. It was very moving to see someone so accustomed to creating suddenly being the subject of creation. It was wonderful to reconnect with a fellow artist and old friend after so long.

Tell me your story
I believe in past lives but I also believe that I’ve already lived many lives in this one. One of my stories is going to Greece with $20 in my pocket and a one way ticket after finishing my fine arts degree in Australia. Landing in Greece became another dimension. What followed was 8 years of nourishment on every level. I was reformed, guided, loved and awakened to values and remarkable experiences and friendships. I was given a second chance. Then I came back to Australia reconnected with my family but lost my way in other aspects. Outside of Australia I ran towards life. Now I’m walking towards life.
What do you think was the biggest turning point in your life?
Facing my fears of independence and leaving home, studying art and leaving an old me, leaving Australia and not turning back, coming back and facing my decision, moving to Melbourne, my grandmother passing away, going to lndia, leaving art therapy, making art with love and purpose, leaving everything to travel light for a year, coming back, and now I’m here.
